Paris 1913. At the Theatre Des Champs-Elysees, Igor
Stravinsky premieres his The Rite Of Spring. Coco
Chanel attends the premiere and is mesmerized...But
the revolutionary work is too modern, too radical:
the enraged audience boos and jeers. A near riot
ensues. Stravinsky is inconsolable. Seven years
later, now rich, respected and successful, Coco
Chanel meets Stravinsky again - a penniless refugee
living in exile in Paris after the Russian Revolution.
The attraction between them is immediate and electric.
Coco offers Stravinsky the use of her villa in Garches
so that he will be able to work, and he moves in
straight away, with his children and consumptive
wife. And so a passionate, intense love affair between
two creative giants begins...

We've had a lot of great response
to this film, so we're holding it over for another
screening this Sunday, August 1st., but the end
is near, so don't put off seeing this fabulous documentary.
Make a date; come reminisce with us. We booked this
wonderful documentary about a time and place in
San Francisco that many of us Bay Area refugees
remember fondly. We know many of you out there can
recall this unforgettable place known as Playland
at The Beach. And those of you not familiar will
certainly rejoice in a look at a time and place
that no longer exists. Located next to Ocean Beach,
Playland was torn down in 1972 to make way for a
condominium development. Gone now for more than
3 decades, it remains one of the city’s lost
treasures. Go back in time to see Laffing Sal, the
Fun House, the Carousel, the Big Dipper, the Diving
Bell, Dark Mystery, Limbo, Fun-tier Town, and much,
much more, all through the eyes of the people who
were there. A wondeful ride in the time machine.
make a point to be here! |

Before the film, visit our neighbor,
, around
the corner at 365 E.6th St, serving coffee drinks,
beer, wine and bistro goodies. Yeah, you can
bring it in.......
