The Pageant is an independent arthouse microcinema, bringing alternative films and events to downtown Chico. We are a small volunteer collective, not-for-profit arts venue that celebrates the art of film and community, showcasing current arthouse cinema, classic repertory film programming and special live music and film events.

Our snack bar offers organic popcorn (with vegan butter and nutritional yeast available on request!) local beer (21+), natural soda and kombucha, and premium candy and snacks. Please no outside food or drink.

The Pageant is wheelchair accessible with gender neutral restrooms. Close captioning devices and audio description and/or assisted listening system headphones may be available for some films (look for the logo in film description).

Support the Pageant with a donation! While we are a volunteer run not-for-profit, we are not an ‘official’ non-profit and so are not eligible for most grants and cannot offer tax-deductions, but we do accept donations and it does help us keep the doors open!

But the best way to support us is to come to the theater and see some shows! Print out our calendar and post it on your fridge or at your local hang-out and spread the word. We don’t do social media, will never have ads before the films, won’t gouge you at the sack bar, so we count on your support!
